Chicago Day 1

2 weeks after our big move and just when we found ourselves settling in our new home, Lupin and I hit the road and headed back to Chicago.

We woke up bright and early Friday morning. With coffee in hand, we jumped in the car ready for our trip. After the first hour our excitement ended as the ride took us about 5 months (not even exaggerating) to get there.

We finally arrived at our hotel, dragging our feet and grumbling.

When my family came to visit me at Easter, they stayed at the Westin on Michigan and loved everything about it. So, for this trip, there was no question as to our hotel choice.

Big marshmallow beds, an amazing view and staff that treat you like family and welcome you as if you’re arriving home.

This trip, however, the staff completely outdid themselves. It takes a lot to change our moods once we get grumpy but the hotel staff managed to do that in about 5 seconds. Right when we walked through the door, the first thing we saw was a birthday banner, balloons and cupcakes waiting for my dad and I.

Try to stay in a bad mood when you have a cupcake in your hand. I dare you.

Thanks to a massive sugar high, I skipped a nap and decided to take the wolf on a stroll downtown.

Lupin had never been on Michigan Ave before so I took him to all the must see spots. Starting with the shops and always spectacular fall decorations.

Don’t be fooled. He’s trying to act cool and unimpressed but as soon as I put the camera away his attitude changed.

When night came, we finally made our way back to our hotel and cozied up in our Heavenly beds.
