Nothing makes me more hungry than shopping. Blame it on the florescent lighting, the thrill of swiping a credit card or the calories burned when I do my “I just found something really cool” happy dance. Needless to say, after hours and hours of shopping in Christmasland, I was starving.
Being someone who suffers from hangry-ism (hungry + angry), we rushed into town in search of food. Going against the norm of getting a Frankenmuth chicken dinner, we headed over to the end of town to the Frankenmuth Brewery.
It was a cold day when we visited which just gives me the excuse to make the trip back in the summer so I can lounge out on the balcony, looking over the river with a big glass of wine.
Frankenmuth is one of my favorite cities to visit. Every time you arrive, it feels like you’ve jumped across continents. There are covered bridges, horse-drawn carriages, riverboat rides and delicious german treats. The perfect place to spend a fall afternoon.
One of my favorite spots to visit is the basement shopping center at the Bavarian Inn.
There are all sorts of things to amuse children and very mature adults.
For those less amused with gnomes and chocolate, there’s plenty of unique gifts, bakery items and as much alcohol as you could ever want.
After a while, things kept popping up to remind me of my missing travel buddy so with one last trip to the toy store, we headed home.
As soon as I walked in the door, a big brown mass of fur tackled me, asking what I brought home for him.
I think he was pleased. Not so sure how long that will last once he sees it goes on a giant tree that will be put inside his house. Stay tuned.
