Lions, Tigers and Twinkle Lights

One of the things I was most sad to miss about Christmas in Chicago this year was Zoo Lights at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Not only was it only a few blocks from my apartment but, just between you and me, I’m pretty sure it was created especially for me. The things I love more than Christmas lights and zoos form a very short list. Well, you can imagine my surprise and uncontainable excitement when I found out about Wild Lights at the Detroit Zoo. With a date on each arm, I ran from the parking lot and pushed my way to the front of the line. . . I mean, I walked calmly and waited in line patiently like the civilized adult I am.

The lights create a path for you to follow as you look on at the five million lights and 100 animal statues.

It’s an Instagram lovers Heaven.

With each bend in the path there’s a new type of light or sculpture for everyone to oooh and aaah over.

It doesn’t matter if you’re 5 or 55, the lights are spectacular and you’re guaranteed a great time filled with laughs and lots of pictures. Especially if you’re camera shy . . . like me, clearly.

I can’t recommend Wild Lights enough – it was by far my favorite holiday festivity this year.
