The Most Perfect Cinnamon Rolls

My favorite thing about the weekend is having the time to make breakfast. I love waffles, biscuits, omelets, pancakes and, best of all, cinnamon rolls. Gooey frosting, flaky pastry and lots and lots of cinnamon. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Pastry:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 TBS brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 TBS butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Filling:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 TBS cinnamon

Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk

Preheat oven to 425 degrees

In a large bowl, stir together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt

In a measuring cup, combine butter and buttermilk

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients

Fold the mixture together and stir only until combined

Transfer dough to a lightly-floured surface and roll flat

Combine filling and sprinkle over surface

Starting on short side and roll dough. Then cut into 2 inch lengths

Bake for about 20-25 minutes

When baking, combine powdered sugar and milk until smooth for the glaze

Drizzle over the rolls and serve warm

Delicious, perfect with coffee and the best way to start a Sunday morning.
