Happy Monday – or as happy as you can be on a Monday. It really is the worst day of the week. It honestly took me a whole pot of coffee before I could even think of doing anything productive this morning.
If you saw my last post you’ll know that my soul sister was in town for a visit this weekend.
When she arrived on Saturday after the obligatory hugs, yelling and jumping up and down, I whisked her off to the very first spot every single person visiting Michigan should go – Sanders.
Sanders is your one stop shop for any person with a sweet tooth – chocolate, baked goods, ice cream and, in my opinion, the very best hot fudge in the world.
Once you walk in the door, you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The inside is designed like an old fashioned soda shop, complete with metal tables and counter seats that are perfect for settling on with a root beer float.
You’re greeted with the smell of chocolate and the very best classics playing over the speakers. You’ll walk past boxes upon boxes of chocolate and candies that will make you drool before you even get to the counter.
You’ll place your order and as you wait, you’re attention will be drawn to the display case full of every kind of mouth watering chocolate and candy imaginable.
You may want to grab a few for the road because you’ll most likely be thinking about them for the rest of the day anyway.
Once you have your treat, you’ll rush over to find a table (or if you’re feeling feisty, grab a counter stool) and as you’re oohing and aahing and licking hot fudge off your fingers you can read the 140 years Sanders history that’s splayed across the wall.
If you don’t take my word for it, ask a non-partial party:
You know what they say, you can’t buy happiness but you can buy Sanders’ ice cream and that’s pretty much the same thing.
