Since I was young, traveling has been a huge part of my life. Whether I’m in a different part of the state, across the country or half-way around the world, my favorite part about traveling is finding things that are word-stopping, mouth gaping, tear-enducingly beautiful.
Do you know what I’m talking about? When you see something that is a complete marvel and it makes you feel so much bigger as a person but reminds you of how small you are in the world.
One of my favorite places that has had this effect on me however, is right in my own backyard.
I’ve been coming to the Fox Theater since I was a little girl and it never ceases to amaze me.
If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know I was just at the Fox this past weekend seeing 42nd Street (which I can’t recommend enough – it’s the play version of a Gene Kelley musical, which, you all know I love).
Lucky for you, I brought my camera along to give you a tour.
Every inch of the theater is ornately designed. You could stare at the main hall forever and still not notice every little detail.
With so much to look at, what’s everyone’s favorite part, you’re probably asking (and if you’re not, you should be). No matter where you stand in the main hall, you’ll always be next to someone looking up. Here’s why.
Is that not the most gorgeous ceiling you’ve ever seen?
The theater has held some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry but even without the long list of amazing people it’s played host too, it’s pretty spectacular on its own.
If you get the chance to come to Detroit, be sure to grab tickets to a show at the Fox. It doesn’t matter what the show is, being able to see this in person is worth every penny.
