I’m not going to say this too loud in case I jinx myself but . . . the sun is out.
I’m very much a heliophile – if the sun isn’t out, I’m not a happy person.
When the sun is out, you’ll find me skipping all over town.
As of late, my skipping has been taking me to Mike’s.
Growing up on the water, it just doesn’t feel like summer unless you’re sitting in the sun, looking across a body of water to the horizon.
My dad had a boat for a good portion of my childhood and we’d spend days out on the water, docking and swimming and going to dock bars for lunch which is why I love Mike’s so much.
It’s just an added perk that the sweet potato fries are utterly groan worthy.
Nestled right against the marina, it’s the perfect spot to spend a lazy afternoon or a fun night.
The warmer it gets and the longer you’re there, you’ll see boaters start docking and pouring in asking for burgers and drinks with big smiles and sunburned faces.
To me, it’s the perfect spot to grab some lunch and soak up as much sun as I can.
If you’re anything like me and you don’t like eating a heavy lunch, the wedge salad is amazing!
A big cut of fresh crisp lettuce with big rings of onion, soft chunks of blue cheese and crispy bacon.
And the sweet potato fries. Perfectly salted and crispy.
Order a side of BBQ sauce to dip them in. You won’t regret it. In fact, you’ll probably pop on back over to WW to tell me what a genius I am!
If you’re reading this and you’re from Michigan. Go! It’s the perfect day! Plus, please tweet me a picture so I can be green with envy since I have to be inside at work.
If you live on the water and have good summer stories – leave me a link to your blog so I can check it out!
