This weekend, I did one of my top 5 worst things to do – cleaning out my closet (in case you were wondering what the other 4 things are, they’re: jean shopping, going to the dentist, sweeping and bra shopping).
My closet is full to bursting recently and in all honestly, I only wear a portion of it.
So, with the whole weekend with nothing to do, I figured it was now or never.
However, this year, closet cleaning wasn’t all that bad.
I swear! Don’t worry, I wouldn’t believe me either.
This year, I developed a system to get through it as quickly and painlessly as possible and I figured I’d share the tips with you in case you hate closet cleaning as much as me!
First, pull clothes out and divide them by type: shirts, dresses, pants, skirts, etc.
Next, make sure you have supervision. Spring cleaning isn’t for the faint of heart.
Don’t be fooled by beautiful clothes.
If you don’t wear it, even if it is beautiful, get rid of it.
On the edge about something, try it on.
If it doesn’t fit you perfectly, put it in the donate pile.
When going through the piles, pull out similar items. Pick which you like more and get rid of the other.
You may even find hidden gems you bought ages ago that got lost in the back of the closet and you’ve never worn it!
If you need a nap, take it.
You and your supervisor have earned it!
When you’re finally done, send in reinforcements to make sure everything’s all good. . .
Then go shopping and fill it back up again!
Anyone have any other spring cleaning tips?
I dread it every year but I have found that wine helps!
